Fox News is reporting that Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence suggested the devastating hurricanes in Texas and Florida were signs of “Mother Nature’s rage and wrath” at America for electing Donald Trump and not believing in man-made climate change.
“It’s scary” the actress responded to the interviewer’s assertion that there was an end of days feeling across the world and especially in the U.S.
I was not aware that Mother Nature was a conscious being?? Regardless, with all the wildfires out west, Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, 8.1 earthquake in Mexico, Equifax breach of 143 million records and the issues with Isis and North Korea, it is not hard to start speculating that something is up. Those of us who have read the Bible understand this has been prophesied in its pages.
In Thessalonians
“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.”
We are sons (and daughters) of light and are aware that there will be signs of the coming of the end. Jesus used the Fig Tree as a symbol of the coming “end of days” and those of us who have read and studied His Word know these things must take place. We understand there will be contractions and like labor pains will get more and more intense as we draw closer to the time when Jesus will return and repossess the world He created and draw all of us to Himself.
So rather than fret over the end of days or be scared of Mother Nature, Christians should celebrate the intensity of these incidents as they are drawing us closer to a time when death and injustice will forever be a part of our past. As most mothers will probably agree, the joy and exuberance of the birth of their child far outweighs the pains of labor and delivery. God has promised that we like the Jews in Egypt will be protected from these end time tragedies and we must vigilant to pray and have faith in Him.
Donald Trump has nothing to do with these destructions and weather phenomenon. So wake up, let us watch and be sober and welcome the calamity that will befall us and know that it must occur to bring about True Peace and safety.
