The Art Museum

Art is almost as old as man himself. As mankind has developed, his creative nature has been depicted on cave walls, rock sculptures and plots of land. Man has always had this innate desire to express himself in some form or another. We marvel at these creations and place them in museums and label them as priceless.

Where does this drive emanate from? Surely nature has nothing to do with this as it has no value to survival. It is simply something beautiful to look at and enjoy.

I believe this drive emanates from the One who developed this existence to begin with. In the Bible, we refer to Genesis as Creation and Christians promote the Creation theory. Creation is the foundation of art and the expression of intelligence to give life to a world that lacks beauty and wonder.

Imagine if God had stopped creating after day 4 when the whole Earth was completed and ready for habitation. It would be a wonder to behold and the population of Heaven would have marveled at its beauty. But I believe what God had created was the museum. There still was no art in residence at this celestial destination.

On days 5 and 6, He created the art that would reside in this majestic creation and He continues to create even today. Every single one of us is different. From the shape and size of our structures to the DNA in our cells, 7 billion of us will never find another exactly like us on the planet. Even twins are different in some form or fashion. Each one of us is a special work of art unique and priceless in every way. God beams over his handiwork and protects it from destruction.

Even though hundreds and thousands are destroyed or decay away every day, God promises he will resurrect His special creations to a form that can never be destroyed and we will forever be on display as the result of His workmanship.

Psalm 139

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[b] Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well

My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

Recognize you are a special, unique piece of art that is beautiful and wonderfully made. Art is created to reflect the genius of its artist. The statue of David has made Michelangelo immortal. We have been created to reflect the genius of our Creator and it is He we must thank for the opportunity to be on display for the entire universe to behold.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5

And that is the Whole Truth. God Bless
