Will Smith
Just recently an article was published regarding an interview with Will Smith. Will has been a very successful actor and singer and has access to all th trappings of being a celebrity. He has the huge house, big payroll and a beautiful wife and kids.
In the interview published July 5th, he discussed his new song and what it meant.
*The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum, 49, explained the meaning behind his new song “The Mountaintop,” which he believes represents this chapter of his life. “The idea is … I’ve been to the top of money, I’ve had all the sex that I’ve ever wanted, I’ve had all of the adoration,” he said. “I’ve been to the top of all those material world mountains and nothing makes you happier other than being useful to others. That’s it. That’s the only thing that ever will satisfy that thing, is that what you’re doing is useful.”*
So here is a man who has had access to it all and has an interesting perspective after attaining huge material and worldly wealth. After all he has experienced, the only thing that matters is helping others. There are thousands of missionaries who could tell you the same thing.
The Bible includes a story about a man named Solomon who was the wisest and richest man on earth. He also wrote down his perceptions and observations of this life. In Ecclesiastes 6
All the labor of man is for his mouth, And yet the soul is not satisfied. For what more has the wise man than the fool? What does the poor man have, Who knows how to walk before the living? Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.
Jesus taught us not to desire riches or greatness but to serve others.
Matthew 20
Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.
How interesting it is that after all these years after the scriptures were written, men are still desiring success and riches and learning once they have achieved it, that it is really meaningless. Serving your fellow man is where it is at and that should be our desire on this plane of existence. Just read the Bible and embrace its principles and you Will be happy.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and may God bless you in your ongoing walk with Him. And remember,
God always answers His kneemail.
