Throughout history the leaders of empires and countries were typically generals or leaders of the military. Within the US, Presidents like George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson and Dwight Eisenhower all led their men in battle. The electorate probably figured anyone who is willing to sacrifice his life for the country is qualified to lead it.
These men of war were arrayed in battle gear to protect them from the enemy and were well schooled in the art of war. Their tactics led to victory and they reaped the spoils of success.
Today, we are engaged in battle. A battle with forces much more ominous than Russia or Iran. We are called to be warriors in this battle and we witness the carnage it produces every day. We must be successful as more than our physical life is at stake. We battle for our family and friends and all those incapable of battling on their own. We must lead in this battle and fight against the forces that seek to destroy us.
Ephesians 6
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
We are given instruction on how to succeed in this battle through God's Holy Word. Throughout the pages of scripture, we are taught what strategies work and which ones do not. We are arrayed in battle gear in verse 6 of Ephesians. Our King fought this battle and paid the ultimate price with His life. He was victorious and now sits on His heavenly throne. We are encouraged to join Him.
We can become leaders through victory in this battle and join Him in the heavenly court. It is truly our purpose for existing on this planet. One third of God's own angelic creation rebelled against Him and now seek to destroy the very world we inhabit. We must become warriors and join in the fight and lead the people to do the same. Then God will make us Generals in his Holy army and prepare us for the final battle.
Revelation 16
For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
We already know the outcome of this war and who will be victorious. Are you willing to sacrifice your life in battle for Him? Are you prepared for battle? Like the people who ascended to their posts in the White House, we shall ascend to our own thrones in the kingdom of Heaven. Only those who are willing to sacrifice their lives will be found worthy as Generals in the Kings army.
