As I sit here in Thousand Oaks, the TV is on with 24 hour coverage of the fires raging all around us. We were just recently dealt a major blow with the shooting at the Borderline bar two days ago where 12 souls lost their lives. Violence and destruction have invaded this peaceful community just 45 miles north of LA.
As horrible as all this is, I have faith in the Creator that knows where I am and he will insure my safety and help me find solace and wisdom throughout these disastrous events.
We often ask God why and where is He during these types of tumultuous times. We must remember, God is always in control. There may be loss of property and even loss of life but God is still in charge and His ways are not our ways.
The Book of Habakkuk offers insight
O Lord, how long shall I cry, And You will not hear? Even cry out to You, “Violence!” And You will not save.
Why do You show me iniquity, And cause me to see trouble? For plundering and violence are before me; There is strife, and contention arises. Therefore the law is powerless, And justice never goes forth.
God Answers
Look among the nations and watch— Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days Which you would not believe, though it were told you.
God works in miraculous ways and I for one have faith He will come through just as He has for sooo many people.
