The Sea of Glass

The city of Thousand Oaks is 886 feet above sea level. This measurement is pretty universal in determining land topography. This is based on the assumption that sea level in the Atlantic is the same as the sea level in the Pacific. In the Book of Revelations, John sees a multitude of people standing on a sea of glass. "And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God." Revelation 15 The multitude are the redeemed of earth all standing before the Lord. Why a sea of glass? If the sea is the same level then everyone standing on this sea would be equal to one another. No one is higher than anyone and no one is lower. We are all equally standing on the same level before the Lord. It is my belief that we will also all be the same height. While we all may be different looking based somewhat on our old physical likeness, I believe we will all greet each other face to face and eye to eye. The sea of glass makes it impossible for anyone to be raised above someone else. It speaks to the fact that we are all alike with the same need for redemption as well as the same desire to know the Lord. We are all the same in the eyes of the Lord. We have all endured hardship and have overcome the temptations of the enemy. On the sea of glass we stand victorious and ready to receive the reward set for us before time began. So if you are feeling less than and unworthy compared to say Mother Theresa or Martin Luther, just know both will be standing on the same sea of glass as you!
