Bad Friday - God's Greatest Gift
Today is Good Friday. This is the day the church set aside as the day Jesus was crucified. It is the annual Easter celebration when people across the world think of egg hunts, bunny rabbits and Spring. It is a good time as it is the end of Winter and the cold season.
On this day, we are reminded that God Himself came down to this plane of existence and walked among us. He taught, He healed and He raised the dead. He also prophesied and then gave Himself over to the sinners of this world to do what they do best - kill and destroy.
While it maybe Good Friday it was certainly a bad day for us all. It was the day we killed God. Yet God did so willingly as a testament of love for this sinful race. Jesus was the atonement mankind needed to become right with God. Since we could not adequately provide that for ourselves, He did it for us. An act that would gift us eternal life.
Billions are not truly going to understand this until the day they are raised from the dead like Lazarus. Only then will they truly understand the gift God gave for us in Jesus death on the cross.
Today is also the first day of Passover. Passover is the holiday our Jewish friends celebrate when the lambs blood was slathered over the door posts of the homes of the Israeli slaves in Egypt. The Angel of death "passed over" those houses that displayed the blood and killed the first born in houses that did not have the blood on their door post. This would be a forerunner to Jesus the "Lamb of God" shedding his blood so the Angel of Death would not have reign over us.
All of this was due to a bad decision our first father and mother made in Eden. To shun God our Creator and tackle life on our own. Blame them we might for the proliferation of evil in our world today, had we been there in the garden we would have made the same choice as well.
Even as He hung dying on the cross, some of His last words reiterated His love for us.
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” — Luke 23:34
So yes today should be called Bad Friday but Good Sunday was the result and His resurrection was a precursor to God' greatest gift for us- Resurrection for us as well.
And that is the Whole Truth!
Have a wonderful rest of the week and may God bless you in your ongoing walk with Him.
And remember,
God always answers His kneemail.
