The Thief

The other day, I was up early and from my home office heard my car doors being closed. The car is parked in the driveway but I could not see it from the office window. I went down to check it out and when I arrived saw that my trunk was open. Apparently, someone was in there and must have ran off when they saw the lights of the house come on.

There are many unscrupulous characters in our world today. They seek to steal from those who have and rob us of things we cherish. Their ambition is only for themselves and they have no regard for us or our property.

Scriptures warn us of such a character who when you boil it down is just a thief. The adversary takes away from us health, love and even life. He focuses our attention on ourselves and what we do not have (covet). He highlights what could be ours (adultery/steal) and he stirs up anger and revenge (murder).

This thief has played a major role in the Bible and was their at the beginning telling our first parents they could be God (no other gods but Me). He tempted Jesus with food and prominence only to realize he was not going to win this One over.

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10

I believe his biggest crime is stealing time from us. We get wrapped up in something and time flies by. Our attention is directed to something negative or self deprecating and we finally come to our senses and wonder where did all the time go? Time is our most precious resource and we need to use it wisely. We have heard time flies when we are having fun or time speeds up with age.

We must invest our time into what will bring us closer to Him. We must spend it on those in need rather than ourselves and we must stay constantly awake in the moment to prepare. As Paul said - Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

We must make ourselves aware of what is really going on. Slowly and carefully, we are being robbed, killed and separated form the One who created us. Recognize this and every day immerse yourself in the Word to ward off his attacks. Evil hates Good and especially the Word of God. This was the weapon Jesus used against the adversary in the desert.

May the God of peace prevail over you and your battle with the thief and may your house be protected from him.

And that is the Whole Truth!

Have a wonderful rest of the week and may God bless you in your ongoing walk with Him.

And remember,

God always answers His kneemail.
