Distracted

As I write these posts, email continually arrives in my inbox. It is so easy to be pulled away from writing when an interesting email arrives and get swept away by the subject or content. One link leads to another and soon I have lost an hour of time away from my writing. I have to minimize the email window so I can focus on what I am doing.

Imagine there is a baseball player at bat. He is dialed into looking at the pitcher and ready to swing away. Over in the stands, there is a woman with a sign calling his name and he glances over to look at her. At that moment, the pitcher unleashes his 100 mile an hour fast ball. Since the batter is distracted by the woman and paying attention to her, he does not see the baseball heading straight for him. In the blink of an eye, the baseball lands with great force on the batters helmet and he falls to the ground.

This is what happens to us all. We may be tuned into something constructive and productive but then the enemy steps in to distract us from our current focus. He knows he can easily distract us humans from anything that would benefit us and our relationship with the Creator. This is the ultimate goal of Lucifer, to pull our attention from Him to him.

It is so easy in this world of carnal desires and affections. We see it everyday on TV commercials, movies and news items. Everyday on my Yahoo page, there is some story about a celebrity baring it all in an effort to get you to click the link and get swept away. Humans are so easy to manipulate that the enemy does not have to exert much effort to fill our time with useless endeavors and wasteful activities that in some cases lead to our destruction.

The enemy has one goal, to separate us from God. But the Word of the Lord reminds us that these activities can never separate us from Him.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38

The enemies shenanigans are fruitless. While they may be successful in the short term, ultimately God through Jesus will come and claim us as His own. We must be mindful of these efforts by the adversary to fill our time with fruitless endeavors and reign in our attention to the things that will foster life. Cell phones, TV, drugs and alcohol are all tools the father of lies uses to divert us away from our true purpose which is to serve God and be His ambassadors to this sin filled world.

Take some time right now and dedicate your life to God. Ask Him to help keep you focused on those things that will lead you to prosperity and life rather than death and destruction. He is Might yo Save!

And that is the Whole Truth!

Have a wonderful rest of the week and may God bless you in your ongoing walk with Him.

And remember,

God always answers His kneemail.
