As the oldest child in my family, I have been named as the Executor of my parents estate once they pass on. As the Executor, I will be responsible for distributing the proceeds of their holdings in accordance with their Will. Since it is just my sister and I, my assumptions are that it will be equally divided among us.
Inheritance is what many look forward to as the reward for supporting the family and carrying on its legacy. Many are denied a part in the inheritance due to family strife or demonstrating behavior unbecoming of the family values.
The Scriptures speak of an inheritance in Genesis where Rachel and Leah pleaded for help from Jacob.
Then Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, “Is there still any portion or inheritance for us in our father’s house? 15 Are we not considered strangers by him? For he has sold us, and also completely consumed our money. 16 For all these riches which God has taken from our father are really ours and our children’s; now then, whatever God has said to you, do it.” Genesis 31
Is there a portion of an inheritance in our Father's house? This was the message that Paul and company were trying to spread to the people across Asia and Europe. God set up an inheritance with Abraham that he should receive the blessings of the promise of a child and many descendants along with a land flowing with milk and honey.
And God gave him no inheritance in it, not even enough to set his foot on. But even when Abraham had no child, He promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his descendants after him. Acts 7
But God also has an inheritance set out for Himself. We are the inheritance He has set aside for even Himself.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.Psalm 33
We are set aside as His inheritance once all has been completed in the story of mankind. We as children of God should receive an inheritance at His return to earth as spoken in the Bible. We look forward to this day with great anticipation as our current state is much like Rachel and Leah's. Are we like strangers to Him? For all the riches God has taken from our father (Adam) and left us to the slavery to principalities of this world.
Jesus revealed His true mission as stated in Acts:
to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’ Acts 26
Faith in Jesus is all that is required to receive the inheritance God promised to Abraham through the blessing of his seed in the lineage of David. The whole world will blessed through Jesus sacrifice and all can be partakers of this inheritance if they just choose to do so.
And that is the Whole Truth!
Have a wonderful rest of the week and may God bless you in your ongoing walk with Him.
And remember,
God always answers His kneemail.
