Don't take for Granted
I was talking to my wife about this virus sweeping the planet. With all of the shutdowns and other services offline, she said that this was a good reminder of how good we have it. We also recently experienced a water leak in the house and had to shut down all water access. This too made her realize how much we have and how much we take it for granted that we have access to water and the basics of life.
It is during times of trouble and calamity that we should reflect upon how good God has been to us. We complain about the lack of the basics like toilet paper and water but when we are flush with these things, do we take the time to thank our Creator for making these things available to us?
There are brothers and sisters in Africa who walk miles to get water everyday. We just need to turn on the tap. We have it pretty good compared to most.
We have become so accustomed to having everything at our fingertips that it takes some loss and lack of access to these everyday items to remind us that there is no guarantee these things will last. In a matter of weeks, the entire planet has gone from business as usual to hunkering down in our homes disconnected from everyone.
What if we did not have the internet? That would be the final nail in the coffin for many.
The Bible tells us through Solomon's experience how to meet each day.
In the day of prosperity be joyful, But in the day of adversity consider: Surely God has appointed the one has well as the other, So that man can find out nothing that will come after him.
Ecclesiastes 7:14
In the version of The Message it is translated
On a good day, enjoy yourself; On a bad day, examine your conscience. God arranges for both kinds of days So that we won’t take anything for granted.
God has ordained these days for His people so they become more appreciative for what they have than for what they don't have. I know my wife has become more appreciative for water and the simple act of flushing the toilet.
We individually did not make all of these things available to us. But God through the years and the inspiration of men and women has made available to the human race all these various items like indoor plumbing and medicines to make our lives better.
Always remember that the Lord is the source of our life and sustenance and He must be praised and thanked every day. We must not take anything we have for granted but treasure all that we have and thank Him for providing it to us.
This too will pass but unfortunately for most so will the appreciation for these basic items that are provided to us. Many will go back to their daily routines and this misery will be forgotten to history like the Spanish Flu and the great Depression.
I implore you to take time every day and rejoice in what you have and what God has provided you and give thanks. Only then will God provide more. To those who have more will be given...
And that is the Whole Truth!
Have a wonderful rest of the week and may God bless you in your ongoing walk with Him.
And remember,
God always answers His kneemail.
