The Rainbow
A sure fire way to get likes on Social Media is to post a picture of a rainbow. A double or even triple rainbow has been captured and posted on Instagram and Facebook. They are certainly a site to behold.
But let's take a deeper look into the existence of the rainbow. Just about everything on planet Earth serves a purpose. We can easily surmise how every organism and fauna support one another in our survival on this planet. A rainbow however, really serves no purpose. We don't need them to survive nor are they a necessary part of nature.
Yet here they are. They make their presence known during or sometime around a rainstorm when the light of the sun hits the water droplets in a way to produce a bow of color in the sky. Once again, why? They do not present a warning to humans like storm clouds that something is coming. They do not signal the beginning of a day like a sunrise.
Scientists call it a phenomenon of nature. Despite what the scientists say, they have no real explanation for its purpose or existence. We Christians know the true origin of the rainbow and who produced it.
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Genesis 9
The Bible instructs us on the origin of the rainbow. After God had flooded the earth and eliminated all life on Earth save Noah and his cargo, He placed a bow in the clouds as a sign. It was a sign from God to man and the planet that He would never bring a flood on the earth again. It is also a rainbow that encircles the throne of God. John describes this in Revelation.
And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Revelation 4
If you ever needed proof that God existed just look up in the skies and see His sign to mankind! There is no other reason for a rainbow to exist! As I mentioned, it serves no purpose except to proclaim to mankind that the flood occurred and the Creator of the Earth will never do that again. Why else would it be there? It serves as a reminder of God's oversight of the planet and that His chamber is full of splendor and color.
A rainbow can never be touched or examined like the physical realm. It can only be observed and enjoyed. Much like the Spirit of God, it can be observed, appreciated and signal the existence of His love for us.
Next time you have a rainstorm in you neighborhood, head outside once the clouds begin to depart. Look for God's sign in the sky and give thanks for His abundance and gift to mankind. Let it be a reminder to us that God is still in control and has a plan for each one of us.
And that is the Whole Truth!
May God truly bless you in your walk with Him.
And remember, God always answers His kneemail.
