Nothing to Fear

Today is Friday the 13th. In many cultures this is not the day to make any plans as many believe they will go awry. The history of this day dates back almost 700 years. In Norse tradition, Loki was the 13th guest at a dinner of the gods and killed Balder. In the Christian faith, Jesus was the 13th member of the supper in the upper room where Judas would betray Him. Additionally, Jesus traditionally died on a Friday.

This day has one origin, Fear. Fear of calamity or fear of loss. The Good Book tells us we have nothing to fear.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4

The enemy has been using fear for centuries to force us to act on our own recognizance rather than on our faith in God. In Mark 4 we read:

But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

Love and faith are our shields from the evil one who seeks to destroy us. The one who persuades us to question God and lean on our own understanding.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5

Fear is a great motivator and one that builds a wall between us and our Creator. The promises of God are that He will care for us and see to our well being. He has been saying this in His Word since the days of Adam. Chaos and destruction are showcased on the news every night yet God promises us He will protect us if we only have faith in Him rather than our own weak wherewithal. You and God together are an unstoppable force. Nothing will be able to harm you and your family if you just have faith.

So on this Friday the 13th, feel free to go about your day as you normally would not fearing what may come of a tradition of man. A day promoted by the spirit of fear. Navigate today with love in your heart and faith in the one who watches over you continuously. He is your shield and your strength and is able to rebuke the authors of chaos and repel them for you. All we need is the faith of a mustard seed...

And that is the Whole Truth!

May God truly bless you in your walk with Him.

And remember, God always answers His kneemail.
